Match on Main grants headed to UP businesses

UPPER PENINSULA, MI— Eight U.P. towns have been awarded Michigan Economic Development Corporation Match on Main grants.

The money aims to support new or expanding place-based businesses as they launch and grow in core downtown areas and commercial districts.

The recipients are as follows:

Since 2019, Match on Main has supported 727 small businesses through partnerships with 147 community organizations.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
