Registration open for winter Becoming an Outdoors-Woman outings in the U-P

(Undated) - The Michigan DNR has announced registration is open for this winter’s Becoming an Outdoors-Woman program. The program, which is scheduled for February 24-26 in Marquette County, is designed for women, 18 and older, who are seeking an opportunity to improve their outdoor skills in a relaxed, noncompetitive atmosphere.

The BOW program is sponsored by the DNR and offers instruction in more than 20 different types of activities, including kayaking, wilderness survival, lake and fly fishing, geocaching, shooting sports, and basic land navigation.

In addition to the winter weekend event, three Beyond BOW outings are scheduled for early in 2023, as well as a film event at the Peter White Library in Marquette.

For more information, contact Michelle Zellar at the DNR Customer Service Center 517-582-3854 or by email at DNRBOW@michigan.gov.

Hans Ahlström is the host of several programs including the daily musical variety show Weekday, the mostly straight ahead jazz show Night Studio, the self explanatory Blues Today, and the eclectic Sound Spectrum. You can also hear Hans as the local host of NPR's All Things Considered news magazine. He also helps manage Public Radio 90's web content, interviews local and visiting writers and artists, works with NMU student interns, and writes the occasional news story.
