Multi-agency Public Safety Training to Take Place in Marquette

Upper Peninsula Travel & Recreation Assoc

Marquette, MI - Marquette County, the city of Marquette, and Northern Michigan University are set to host planned, public safety training next week. Training runs from Monday to Wednesday in and around Mattson Lower Harbor Park, the NMU campus, and Marquette Sawyer Regional Airport. Local, state, federal, and non-profit agencies will come together to strengthen coordination, communication, and joint response capabilities. Training will include marine safety, hazardous materials response training, as well as collaboration and coordination among participating agencies. These exercises are designed to provide an opportunity for partners to practice working together, share information, coordinate resources, and strengthen relationships that are critical during real-world emergencies.
Residents and visitors in the area may see emergency vehicles, personnel in protective equipment, and other visible training activities, and are being asked to avoid entering designated training areas and to follow any directions from public safety personnel.

Hans Ahlström is the host of several programs, including the daily musical variety show Weekday, the mostly straight ahead jazz show Night Studio, the self-explanatory Blues Today, and the eclectic Sound Spectrum. You can also hear Hans as the local host of NPR's All Things Considered news magazine. He also helps manage Public Radio 90's web content, interviews local and visiting writers and artists, works with NMU student interns, and writes the occasional news story.
