Gauthier found not guilty following trial for CSC

BARAGA, MI--   A Baraga man on trial for criminal sexual conduct has been found not guilty.

William Gauthier, 47, was charged with two counts of first-degree CSC after he had sex with a woman on a camping trip.  She claimed she was drunk and incapacitated.  Gauthier claimed it was consensual.

The trial began Monday and lasted three days.

It’s the second trial for Gauthier.  The first in August was ruled a mistrial when one of the jurors had a mental breakdown during deliberations.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
