Christ pleads in death of Ishpeming boy

MARINETTE, WI--   A Wisconsin man charged in a two-vehicle Marinette County accident that killed an Ishpeming boy has entered a plea.

Timothy Christ, 28, of Wausaukee is accused of pulling out of a bar without his lights on last October and striking a car in the opposite lane.  Thirteen-year-old Christopher Croley was killed in the crash.  His mother and sister were injured.

Christ pleaded no contest Wednesday to eight charges, including homicide by intoxicated use of a vehicle and operating while intoxicated, causing injury—second offense.  He faces up to 34 years in prison, and the prosecution is recommending at least 15 years.

Sentencing is set for May 20.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
