Dollar Bay man setenced on B&E, theft charges

HOUGHTON, MI--   A Houghton County man has been sentenced for stealing a wallet on the campus of Michigan Technological University.  

Gordon Lewis, 22, of Dollar Bay pleaded guilty to attempted breaking and entering, attempted illegal use of a financial transaction device, and attempted illegal possession of a financial transaction device.  He was sentenced Monday to one year in jail with credit for 208 days already served.   

Lewis also pleaded no contest last year to attempted safe breaking at a South Range bank and guilty to attempted larceny in a Michigan Tech locker room.  He was sentenced to one year already served in jail. 

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
