Man sentenced for robbing Admiral gas station in Escanaba

ESCANABA, MI--   An Escanaba man has been sentenced to prison for robbing a city gas station in January.

This week Marc Allen Grove, 20, was given a minimum of five years, four months to a maximum term of 15 years.

Grove was arrested January 20 for entering the Admiral gas station , brandishing a knife, and fleeing with cash.  He pleaded guilty in May to assault with intent to rob while unarmed.  In exchange for the guilty plea one count each of armed robbery and possession of an analogue were dropped.

Grove’s codefendant, Courtney Marie Gartland, 21, pleaded guilty in June to lying to a peace officer investigating a crime—a high-court misdemeanor punishable by up to two years in jail.

Her sentencing is set for August 13 in Delta County Circuit Court.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
