Wisconsin shooter to spend life in prison

MARINETTE, WI--   A Crivitz, Wisconsin man is headed to prison for the rest of his life for killing his ex-girlfriend.  

Richard Heyer, 55, received the sentence Thursday in Marinette County Circuit Court.

Heyer was charged with first-degree intentional homicide in the August 2012 shooting death of Ann Schueller, 51, at a Citgo station in Wausaukee.  Heyer shot himself in the chest afterward, but recovered. 

The judge in the case denied a defense request that Heyer be eligible for parole after 20 years. 

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
