Menominee man who had bombs in his apartment sentenced

MENOMINEE, MI (AP)--   A man who police say had several explosive devices in his Menominee apartment has been sentenced to a year in prison on a bomb-related charge.

Thomas Bebo was sentenced Wednesday in U.S. District Court. He earlier pleaded guilty to possession of unregistered destructive devices.

In April, authorities say at least five devices were found after a search of the 51-year-old's apartment in Menominee. Neighbors in the eight-unit building were notified, but an evacuation wasn't ordered. Charges in the case eventually were brought in federal court.

Bebo was also ordered to serve two years of probation.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
