Court hearing held for accused torturer

MARQUETTE, MI--   A pretrial hearing was held Monday for an Ishpeming man charged with kidnapping and torturing two women last summer.

Council discussed whether testimony against Jason Sadowski, 43, from one of the victims—who has since died—could be used in trial.

Prosecution also filed a motion that Sadowski be restrained during the trial because of the violent nature of his previous crimes.  A video showing Sadowski assaulting an inmate while he was imprisoned for another crime was shown in the courtroom.

The judge will consider the issues and meet with attorneys for both sides before trial, which is scheduled for February 24.
