Nassiri to undergo mental health exam

HOUGHTON, MI (AP)--   A judge has ordered a mental-health exam for a man charged with killing his wife before she started winter classes at Michigan Technological University.

Nima Nassiri was back in Houghton County court Wednesday. He's charged with killing Sanaz Nezami. Her heart, lungs and other life-saving organs were transplanted to seven people, a rare donation.

No trial date will be set until experts evaluate Nassiri's mental state at the time of his wife's death in December.

The 27-year-old Nezami was a native of Iran who moved to Michigan with her husband to pursue an advanced degree in engineering. They were married last summer in Turkey.

Nassiri formerly lived in the Los Angeles area.
