Alleged hit-and-run driver headed for trial in Marquette

MARQUETTE, MI--   A Big Bay man accused in a hit-and-run accident that killed an NMU employee has been bound over to circuit court.

Michael Nelson, 46, is charged with failure to stop at the scene of an accident when at fault, resulting in death.  He was the driver of a vehicle that allegedly struck 54-year-old Robin Rahoi as she walked along Lighthouse Road in the early morning hours of December 17.

Nelson is headed for trial, following a preliminary hearing this week in Marquette County District Court.  A date has not yet been set.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
