Competency hearing ordered for McKenzie

ST. IGNACE, MI--   A St. Ignace man accused of shooting and killing his father will undergo an exam to determine his competency.

Richard Allen McKenzie Jr., 53, is charged with two counts of first-degree murder and felony firearms.  He allegedly shot through his 75-year-old father’s house and barn in St. Ignace Township October 24.  The father died of his injuries.

A preliminary hearing for McKenzie was held Wednesday in Mackinac County District Court, at which time the competency hearing was ordered.
