Anderson sentenced for North Dakota murder

GRAND FORKS, ND--  A former Iron River man has been sentenced for killing a friend in North Dakota.

In August Ryan Anderson was found guilty of stabbing to death 32-year-old Iron River resident Christopher King during an argument at an oil field crew camp in 2013.

Anderson faced up to life in prison without the possibility of parole, but Thursday was given 20 years in prison and 10 years of supervised probation.  He must also pay $1,000 in court fines.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
