Iron River man sentenced for making a bomb threat

CRYSTAL FALLS, MI--   An Iron County man initially charged with threatening terrorism has been sentenced on a lesser charge. 

Anthony Nielsen, 36, of Iron River was arrested by city police in August for making a bomb threat.  He pleaded guilty but mentally ill in January to making a false report of a bomb or other harmful device.  A possession of marijuana charge was dropped.

Nielsen was sentenced this week to two to six years in prison with credit for 180 days already served. 

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
