Manistique shooting suspect in court

MANISTIQUE, MI--   A Manistique teen has been arraigned on charges in connection with a shooting in the city last Friday.

Jacob Volk, 17, is charged with three counts of assault with a dangerous weapon, one count of carrying a concealed weapon, one count of carrying a dangerous weapon with unlawful intent, and one count felony firearm. 

Volk is accused of shooting at three men Friday at Central Park near the softball field.  He was arrested Saturday afternoon. 

Volk remains lodged at the Schoolcraft County Jail on a $250,000 bond.  A probable cause conference is scheduled for June 17, and a preliminary exam for June 24.  

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
