Woman charged in Manistique accident

MANISTIQUE, MI--   A Manistique woman has been arraigned on charges related to a crash in the city on Monday.  

Theresa Gorney, 32, is accused of crossing the centerline of M-94 at the Siphon Bridge and hitting an SUV containing an Illinois couple head-on.  She’s charged with operating while license suspended or revoked, causing serious injury, punishable by up to five years in prison and a $5,000 fine. 

Gorney remains lodged in the Schoolcraft County Jail on a $250,000 bond.

A probable cause hearing is set for June 24, while a preliminary hearing is scheduled for June 29.  

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
