Hancock stabbing suspect headed to circuit court

HOUGHTON, MI--   A Hancock woman accused of stabbing a man in a city residence has been bound over to Houghton County Circuit Court.

Sarah Youmans, 41, is charged with assault with a dangerous weapon in connection with the August 21 incident on Summit Street. 

The victim was stabbed in the area of his left shoulder.  He was treated at U.P. Health System Portage and has recovered.

Youmans faces up to four years in prison if convicted as charged. 

She remains lodged in the Houghton County Jail on a $25,000 cash bond.  

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
