Atlantic Mine man facing drug charge

HOUGHTON, MI--   A man arrested in a drug bust in Atlantic Mine has been arraigned.  

Anthony Vencato, 52, is charged with one count of possession of methamphetamine/ecstasy. 

He and another suspect were arrested Monday following a drug bust by the Upper Peninsula Substance Enforcement Team at adjacent residences in Atlantic Mine.  Detectives seized crystal meth and heroin.  The second man is receiving medical treatment and won’t be arraigned until Friday.

Vencato remains lodged in the Houghton County Jail on a $10,000 bond. 

A preliminary exam is set for September 21.  

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
