Jury finds Chippewa County man guilty of child pornography

SAULT STE. MARIE, MI--   A Drummond Island man has been found guilty on child pornography charges.

The Chippewa County Sheriff’s Office began investigating Robert Henning, 67, in July of 2015 on a report that he was downloading child sexually abusive material. A search warrant executed at Henning’s home uncovered more than 7,000 photos and videos of child pornography on computers and hard drives.

A two-day jury trial ended in 50th Circuit Court Thursday with a verdict of guilty on ten counts of child sexually abusive activity and ten counts of using a computer to commit a crime.

Officials say detectives from the Charlevoix County Sheriff’s Office Computer Unit were key to obtaining evidence in the case.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
