Manistique residents face meth charges

MANISTIQUE, MI--   Investigation into a domestic dispute in Manistique has resulted in felony drug charges for two residents. 

Manistique Public Safety was called February 25 to a house on Deer Street to find the female victim present but the male suspect gone.  Investigation uncovered a meth lab in a dumpster near the house. 

A 7-year-old child in the home was taken into protective custody.

Michael Murray, 24, is charged with operating/maintaining a meth lab, delivery/manufacture of meth, soliciting another to obtain ephedrine/pseudoephedrine, and use of a controlled substance. 

Stacy Clauss, 31, is charged with purchase of ephedrine/pseudoephedrine to make meth, accessory after the fact to a felony, maintaining a drug house, and use of a controlled substance.

Both remain lodged in the Schoolcraft County Jail.  Their next court date is March 13.  

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
