Alleged drunken driver arraigned in Dickinson County

IRON MOUNTAIN, MI--   A Kingsford man accused of hitting a pedestrian with his vehicle in Iron Mountain last week has been charged.

Iron Mountain Police say on May 2 Donn Edwards, 66, struck a 52-year-old woman who was walking along the side of Hemlock Street. The woman was taken to Dickinson County Healthcare System with a broken ankle.

Edwards was arraigned Thursday on a charge of operating while intoxicated, causing serious injury. It’s punishable by up to five years in prison.

A probable cause conference is set for May 24 in Dickinson County District Court.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
