Former teacher pleads to sexual assault in Luce County

NEWBERRY, MI--   A former Tahquamenon Area Schools teacher has pleaded no contest to three felonies, including criminal sexual conduct.

Carrie Ann Miller, 48, is accused of sexually assaulting a 16-year-old student while she taught in the district. The activity allegedly began in January of this year.

Miller pleaded to criminal sexual conduct, assault with intent to perform sexual penetration, and assault with intent to do great bodily harm less than murder or by strangulation.

She resigned after school administrators placed her on unpaid leave.

Sentencing is set for January 22 in Luce County Circuit Court.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
