Court hearing set for accused hit and run driver

IRON RIVER, MI--   An Iron River man arrested last month for hitting a pedestrian and leaving the scene has been charged.

On December 20 State Police from the Iron Mountain Post stopped a vehicle in Iron River for driving erratically. It matched the description of one that reportedly had struck a 40-year-old woman on US-2 west of Iron River earlier in the day.

The woman was taken to Aspirus Hospital for treatment of her injuries.

Christopher Nordang, 26, was arrested and faces charges of operating under the influence—second offense and failure to stop at a personal injury accident.

A pretrial hearing is set for January 14.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
