Man arrested for causing 7-vehicle crash arraigned on drug charges

IRON MOUNTAIN, MI--   A Norway man arrested for his role in a seven-vehicle crash in Iron Mountain faces additional charges.

The accident happened September 25 on US-2 near H Street. City police arrested Harvey Bennett, 63, for operating under the influence of drugs.

Further investigation led Dickinson County Prosecutor Lisa Richards to charge Bennett with delivery/manufacture of meth, possession of meth, operating while intoxicated – third offense, and being a habitual offender – fourth offense.

Bennett was arraigned in 95-B District Court and released on a $7,500 cash bond.

A preliminary hearing is set for October 22.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
