Man convicted for having sex with victim under 13

MARQUETTE, MI--   A Marquette County man has been convicted on several counts of criminal sexual conduct with someone younger than 13.

Following a three-day jury trial in 25th Circuit Court, Daniel Miller, 19, was found guilty Wednesday on five counts of 1st-degree criminal sexual conduct, victim under the age of 13, defendant age 17 or older; two counts of 2nd-degree criminal sexual conduct; and three counts of accosting a minor for immoral purposes.

Miller faces up to life in prison. Each 1st-degree CSC charge carries a minimum penalty of 25 years in prison alone.

A sentencing date has not yet been set.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
