Kincheloe suspect arraigned for sexually abusing minors

Chippewa County Sheriff's Office

SAULT STE. MARIE, MI--   A Chippewa County man has been arrested in Colorado on multiple counts of criminal sexual conduct with a minor.

Last year Kinross Police investigated a CSC complaint involving a victim between 13 and 17 years old. The suspect in the case fled the area.

This year the Chippewa County Sheriff’s Office investigated another incident with a different victim, who was under 13 years old. Around that time the Sheriff’s Office was informed the suspect—Eric Chambers, 34, of Kincheloe—was living in Colorado under a false name and altered appearance.

Chambers was found and arrested on the outstanding warrants. Deputies drove out to Colorado, picked him up, and brought him back to Michigan to face charges.

Chambers was arraigned Friday in the Kinross case for 1st-degree criminal sexual conduct, child between 13 and 17 years old, 2nd-degree CSC, child between 13 and 17, and distributing obscene material to a child. He was also arraigned on six counts of 1st-degree CSC with a child under 13 from the Sheriff’s Office case.

Chambers remains jailed on a $1 million bond.
