Gladstone man sentenced after he pleads to home invasion charge

ESCANABA, MI— A Gladstone man has been sentenced in a home invasion case.

On July 27, 2020 a woman came home and found three unknown individuals in her house. When she confronted them, Spencer LaFave, 23, pushed his way past her to get out of the house.

Officers tracked down LaFave and the two other suspects. LaFave admitted to breaking into the residence, stealing the victim’s phone and other items, and pushing the victim when he was leaving.

LaFave pleaded guilty to third-degree home invasion. On Friday he was sentenced to one year in the Delta County Jail.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
