Man accused of threatening business owner with gun sentenced

BARAGA, MI— A Baraga man charged with using a gun to threaten another man last year has been sentenced.

Edwin Bonham, 53, was arrested last January following an argument with a local businessman. Police searched his house the next day and found a large amount of illegal marijuana, a butane hash oil lab, and a handgun.

Bonham was charged with assault with a dangerous weapon and felon in possession of a firearm. He pleaded guilty to the possession charge and the assault charge was dropped.

Bonham was sentenced Tuesday to eight months in jail with credit for 104 days already served.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
