Final defendents in Whitmer kidnapping plot head to trial

BELLAIRE, MI (MPRN)— Jury selection begins Monday in Antrim County, as three men face trial in the plot to kidnap Governor Gretchen Whitmer.

They are the last defendants in the case to go in front of a jury.

The three-week trial will decide the fates of Eric Moliter and twin brothers Michael and William Null. Each is charged with providing material support for terrorist acts and possessing a firearm while committing a felony.

State Judge Charles Hamlyn said the trial will include physical evidence, audio recordings and testimonies from undercover FBI agents.

Two other men, Shawn Fix and Brian Higgins, have already pleaded guilty in Antrim County for their role in the plot. They’re likely to testify as part of their plea agreement.

To date, a total of 14 people have been charged in three different courts. Seven have been convicted.

Opening arguments are set to begin at 9 a.m. on Wednesday.
