Two sentenced to prison in Menominee County

MENOMINEE, MI— Prison sentences were handed down to two Menominee County residents last week.

Jeffrey Tomes, 57, of Menominee was given 6-20 years on Thursday after he pleaded guilty to possession with intent to deliver meth.

In November of last year, UPSET detectives seized more than a pound of meth at a house on 10th Avenue. Tomes had allegedly received seven such deliveries from California since 2019.

And Rose Metzger, 37, of Wilson was sentenced to 20 months to 10 years in prison on Friday for possession of meth.

Detectives from UPSET conducted a controlled buy of the drug from Metzger in July of 2022. She had six prior felony and 17 prior misdemeanor convictions.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
