Jury urged to convict 3 in last trial tied to Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer kidnapping plot

BELLAIRE, MI (AP)— A jury has heard closing arguments in the fourth trial connected to a plan to kidnap Governor Gretchen Whitmer just ahead of the 2020 presidential election.

Deliberations started Thursday. Prosecutor William Rollstin says William Null, brother Michael Null, and Eric Molitor hated government and were “willing to go to war.”

The three are charged with having a supporting role in the kidnapping plot by participating in military-style drills and traveling to see Whitmer’s vacation home. The Null brothers and Molitor deny committing crimes.

Informants and undercover FBI agents were inside the group for months.

Nine men have been convicted and two acquitted.
