Probation violations send Menominee man to prison

MENOMINEE, MI— A 20-year-old Menominee resident has been sentenced to 14 months to 5 years in prison for probation violations.

Drake Ryan was initially convicted of unlawful driving away of an automobile. He was given 6 months in jail and 3 years of probation under youthful offender status in January of 2022. Ryan violated his probation in March of last year. His youthful offender status was revoked, but he remained on probation.

In July of last year, Ryan absconded from probation until he was arrested in Marinette on new criminal charges.

The judge on Friday allowed Ryan to participate in the Michigan Department of Corrections’ Special Alternative to Incarceration Boot Camp program while in prison.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
