UP man who threatened synagogue to accept plea deal

DETROIT, MI— A Pickford man accused of threatening to attack an East Lansing synagogue will plead guilty to one federal charge.

Seann Pietila, 19, is charged with two counts of transmitting threatening communications and one count of threat to kill or injure by means of fire.

Court documents filed this week indicate Pietila will plead November 13th to one count of transmitting a threatening communication in interstate or foreign commerce. He faces up to five years in prison, three years of supervised release, and a fine of up to $250,000.

Documents say Pietila hoped to use firearms, knives, machetes, axes and napalm to kill or injure Jewish people and stream it over social media.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
