Name of accused Escanaba Township shooter released

ESCANABA, MI— The suspect in an Escanaba Township shooting incident over the weekend has been identified.

Jacob Cronick, 28, is charged with assault to do great bodily harm less than murder. He was taken into custody Sunday after officers responded to a report of a gunshot victim at a township residence.

The victim was airlifted to UPHS-Marquette, where he remains in stable condition.

Cronick was arraigned Monday in Delta County District Court. A probable cause conference is set for February 1st.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
