Manistique suspect sent to prison for meth conviction

MENOMINEE, MI— A Manistique man has been sentenced in Menominee County on drug charges, following a two-day trial last month.

A jury found Johnny Lee Tucker, 30, guilty of possession of meth with intent to deliver and possession of meth.

In June of last year, a vehicle driven by Tucker was stopped by Sheriff’s deputies on M-35 in Cedar Township. A K-9 indicated narcotics were in the vehicle. Police discovered a digital scale, a bag of meth, and several empty baggies. A female passenger pulled a small amount of meth from her bra and a later search uncovered another 19 grams on her person.

Tucker admitted to trafficking meth from Wisconsin and said he’d bought a half-pound of meth a couple of days before the stop. He was sentenced last week to 22 to 45 years in prison.

The female suspect testified against Tucker in exchange for a reduced charge.
