Menominee County man sent to prison for stabbing deputy with knife

MENOMINEE, MI— A Daggett man has been sentenced to 2 to 4 years in prison for felonious assault and resisting and obstructing.

Last August, Menominee County Sheriff’s deputies were called to Daggett for an “out of control” man, later identified as Nathan Bedgood, 38. When officers tried to arrest him, Bedgood stabbed one of them with a knife.

He pleaded no contest in April to assault with a dangerous weapon and resisting and obstructing an officer. That was after a referral to the Michigan Center for Forensic Psychiatry, which determined Bedgood was competent to understand the charges against him and rationally assist in his legal defense.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
