Man sentenced in federal court for drug trafficking in the UP

MARQUETTE, MI— An interstate drug trafficker was sentenced in Marquette Federal Court Monday to 15 years in prison.

Bradley Heard, 46, of Havre, Montana and Chicago, Illinois received 180 months for possession with intent to distribute meth in the Upper Peninsula.

In June 2023, the Michigan State Police Traffic Safety Team and UPSET stopped Heard and two passengers as they drove through Menominee County. A search of the vehicle uncovered about a pound of meth that Heard intended to distribute.

Heard has been previously convicted for selling cocaine base, possessing marijuana with intent to distribute, and other drug crimes. He also has a history of violence, including a conviction for armed robbery and aggravated criminal sexual abuse.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
