MI Supreme Court comes to NMU Tuesday

MARQUETTE, MI— The public is invited to see the Michigan Supreme Court hold oral arguments on a case in Marquette Tuesday.

As part of the “Court Community Connections” program, justices will hear “People versus Jeffery Scott Armstrong” at NMU.

Judges from Dickinson, Houghton, and Marquette counties and students from 14 area schools will attend the session. They’ll be debriefed by Supreme Court Chief Commissioner Daniel C. Brubaker before and after oral arguments.

The event also includes a community activity led by the Keweenaw Bay Indian Community Drummers.

The session begins at 9 a.m. at NMU’s Northern Center.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
