Trial date set for former officer accused of criminal sexual conduct

MARQUETTE, MI— A former Ishpeming Police officer accused of giving a girl alcohol, then sexually assaulting her, is headed to trial.

Travis Hardwicke is charged with first-degree criminal sexual conduct-personal injury and selling/furnishing alcohol to a minor. He was originally charged with third-degree CSC, but it was upgraded after the 17-year-old alleged victim testified at Hardwicke’s preliminary hearing in June.

Hardwicke was fired from the IPD after a Michigan State Police investigation.

A pretrial hearing is set for March 17, 2025. A jury trial is scheduled for April 29, 2025.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
