Additional charges levied against man arrested for carrying concealed weapons in Marquette

MARQUETTE, MI— A Marquette man arrested for carrying concealed weapons and resisting arrest on Sunday has been charged in Marquette County District Court.

Carl Stobbelaar, 50, was taken into custody after he allegedly damaged a vehicle at Picnic Rocks and fled. Police found a gun, ammunition, and a knife on him during his arrest.

Stobbelaar is charged with carrying a concealed weapon, assault with a dangerous weapon (felonious assault), two counts of resisting/obstructing a police officer, felony firearms, and malicious destruction of property.

He faces an additional felonious assault charge from an incident that happened on February 14.

Stobbelaar remains lodged in the Marquette County Jail on a $10,000 bond.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for March 19 for both cases.
