Jacob Cronick trial ends in deadlocked jury

FM Studio A

ESCANABA, MI— A mistrial has been declared in the case of an Escanaba Township man arrested after a January 2024 shooting.

Jacob Cronick, 29, is accused of shooting his ex-father-in-law. He’s charged with assault with intent to do great bodily harm less than murder and felony firearms.

WLUC-TV reports Cronick’s trial began March 3. Delta County Prosecutor Lauren Wickman says the judge declared a mistrial on Saturday when the jury became deadlocked.

The prosecution and defense will meet next month to determine next steps.
