Gwinn man could face additional charges in aggravated domestic violence case

MARQUETTE, MI— The preliminary exam for a Gwinn man accused of aggravated domestic violence was adjourned this week.

Louis Hemphill, 31, is charged with assault with intent to do great bodily harm less than murder, felonious assault, felony firearms, and aggravated assault-domestic violence. He was arrested March 4 after he allegedly assaulted his girlfriend with a pistol at a residence on Bomarc Street.

Marquette County District Court Judge Karl Weber adjourned Hemphill’s preliminary hearing on Wednesday following a motion by the prosecution. The prosecutor is waiting on additional evidence in the case, which could lead to further charges against Hemphill.

Another probable cause conference is scheduled for April 16.
