Sentencing set for Dickinson County man accused of assaulting children

IRON MOUNTAIN, MI— A Norway man who was extradited from California has agreed to a plea deal in cases where he’s accused of sexually assaulting minors.

The Michigan Attorney General’s Office says Trentin McWilliams, 23, pleaded no contest Monday to second-degree criminal sexual conduct for assaulting a child at a relative’s residence in 2018. He also pleaded guilty to two counts of third-degree criminal sexual conduct for assaulting a 14-year-old girl in a vehicle in October 2022.

McWilliams was extradited to Dickinson County in September 2024 by the U.S. Marshals Service as part of Operation Survivor Justice.

Sentencing is set for July 7 in Dickinson County Circuit Court.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
