MARQUETTE, MI— A Gwinn man who led police on a chase through Marquette County last year has been sentenced.

In April of 2024, Michigan State Police saw a pickup truck commit various traffic violations. The driver, later identified as Murphy, took off when troopers tried to stop him.

Marquette Police also tried to stop the pickup, but Murphy led officers on a chase through Marquette Township, Chocolay Township, and West Branch Township, where it eventually ended.

Murphy was originally charged with third-degree fleeing and eluding and two counts of fourth-degree fleeing and eluding a police officer.
