AG's office steps in after Luce County Prosecutor gets job in Lake County

NEWBERRY, MI— The Michigan Department of Attorney General is helping with prosecutorial function in Luce County.

That’s following the appointment of Luce County Prosecutor Thomas Evans as the Lake County Prosecuting Attorney.

After consultation with the staff at the Luce County Prosecutor’s Office and the district court bench, the Department began assisting with cases on October 14th. The AG’s office will continue to support prosecutorial duties in Luce County until the prosecuting attorney vacancy is filled.

The Department began offering assistance and significant resources to help local prosecutor’s offices manage their caseloads during vacancies. The Department has previously aided Houghton, Lake, and Ontonagon counties during similar vacancies.
