Ishpeming man pleads in child sexually abusive material case

MARQUETTE, MI— Sentencing is set for an Ishpeming man charged with child sexually abusive activity.

Zachary Weisman, 24, was arrested in April when police learned he possessed numerous explicit images of children. He was initially charged with 15 counts of aggravated child sexually abusive activity and 15 counts of using a computer to commit a crime.

Weisman pleaded guilty this week to five counts of aggravated child sexually abusive activity as part of a plea deal. The other charges were dropped.

Sentencing is set for February 20, 2026.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
