Gogebic County man sentenced for encouraging sexual acts from minors on Snapchat

BESSEMER, MI— A Bessemer man could spend up to 20 years in prison in connection with a case involving criminal sexual conduct and child sexually abusive material.

Asher Carlisle, 24, was sentenced Tuesday on six felony counts. They include accosting a child for immoral purposes, possession of child sexually abusive material, child sexual abusive activity, using a computer to commit a crime, and second-degree criminal sexual conduct.

Carlisle will spend at least 10 years, 10 months and up to 20 years in prison. All sentences will run concurrently.

Last year, he was arrested for using Snapchat to text children from outside the area and sharing nude photos to encourage sexual acts with them. Some of the victims were as young as eight.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
