BESSEMER, MI— A Milwaukee man has been found guilty of a number of felony drug charges, following a two-day trial in Gogebic County.
Prosecutor Nick Jacobs says the case stems from an investigation by GIANT last May. A man with national warrants suspected of bringing meth into the county—Shane Reinfelder—was being tracked with GPS technology on his phone. When a vehicle containing Reinfelder pulled into an Ironwood motel, he was arrested by Ironwood Public Safety officers.
The driver—Isaac Sawyer, 33—was ordered out of the car as K-9 Debwe investigated it. The dog alerted, and police found a number of illegal substances, including meth, heroin, cocaine, mushrooms, and various pills.
Sawyer was found guilty Thursday of possession with intent to deliver meth, two counts of conspiracy to deliver meth, conspiracy to deliver heroin, possession with intent to deliver heroin, and maintaining a drug house. He’s also a four-time habitual offender.
A sentencing date has not yet been scheduled.
