SAULT STE. MARIE, MI— A sentencing date has been set for a Florida man who set fire to, then shot at, Michigan State Police patrol cars in the Soo in 2023.

In the early morning hours of September 6, 2023, Itani drove to the Soo Post wearing camouflage. He doused several patrol cars with gas and set them alight, then grabbed a rifle from his vehicle and shot the vehicles several times.

Sentencing is set for March 24 in Chippewa County Circuit Court.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
